Parks and Recreation Mission StatementWhitehall Parks and Recreation is dedicated to promoting and supporting the well being of families and communities through education, recreation, and utilization of the environmental opportunities the parks offer. Dance Program Ballet classes are offered during the week at Whitehall Community Park. These classes are offered on Tuesdays at 5:30 for ages 3-6, 6:30 for ages 6-11, and 7:30 for ages 12 & up. The classes are taught by Dana Watters. Classes meet once a week for 8 weeks at a cost of $25 for the 8 week session. Discounts are given when signing up more than 1 child in the same family for the same class. The next session of classes begin January 8.
Adult Yoga ClassAre you looking for ways to relieve stress or do you just want to become more limber. You can solve these issues by signing up for our adult yoga class. On Tuesdays from 6:30-7:30 and Thursdays from 7:00-8:00 we have an adult yoga class. Cost is $3.00 per class and the instructor will be Karen Sturwold on Tuesdays and Cynthia Clem on Thursdays. Participants should bring their own mats to sit on.
Tap Dance ClassWe will offer a series of 8 tap classes on Mondays from 6:00-6:45 beginning January 7. Children ages 6-12 will learn the beginning steps of tap. Cost for the series of eight classes is $25. The instructor will be Becky Fisher. AerobicsWe offer low impact aerobics on Monday & Thursday evenings from 7:00-8:00. Classes are taught at Whitehall Community Park. Cost is $3 per class. The instructor is Becky Fisher and the classes are ongoing.
Hip Hop Dance ClassSign your child up for our hip hop dance class. The class will be taught on Thursday nights from 6:00-6:45. Children ages 6-12 are able to sign up for this hot new form of dance, similar to jazz dance. Cost is $25 for 8 classes. The first class will be on November 29. Becky Fisher will be the instructor. The class will be taught at Whitehall Community Park. Bike Trail Advisory Council Our department is forming a Bike Trail Advisory Council. The purpose of forming this advisory council is to plan and promote the construction and use of bike/walking trails in the City of Whitehall. We are currently seeking a “Nature Works” grant from Ohio Department of Natural Resources to construct an extension of our current trail at Whitehall Community Park.
WCCA “Breakfast with Santa”On Sunday December 16, the Whitehall Community Celebration Association will hold their annual “Breakfast with Santa” from 9:00-11;30 at Whitehall Community Park. Cost to for this breakfast of pancakes, sausage, milk, juice and coffee will be $1.00 or 1 canned good.
KIK Karate ClassesIs your child interested in Karate? Sign them up for karate classes offered on Tuesday nights from 6:30-8:00. Cost for the series of 8 classes is $48. You may sign up on any Tuesday. If you have questions you can Master John Stephens at 866-1818.
“Young Rembrandts” Drawing ClassesIs your child interested in drawing? Enroll them in the Young Rembrandts drawing program conducted at Whitehall Community Park. Classes are Wednesdays January 3-February 7 from 6:00-7:00 for ages 6-13. Cost for the 6 classes is $36. If you have questions call Abby Bryan at 626-0026.
